Student Policy
At Malhaar Music Academy, we are committed to fostering a disciplined, respectful, and inspiring learning environment for students of all ages. The following policies help ensure consistency, progress, and a positive experience for every learner.
1. Class Schedule & Attendance
Classes are held once a week and regular attendance is essential for steady musical growth.
Students should expect repetition as a natural and essential part of the learning process. There are foundational skills and nuances that I will reinforce consistently before a student is ready to progress to the next level. This intentional repetition ensures strong technique, confidence, and long‑term musical growth.
Absences or rescheduling requests must be communicated before 9:00 PM on the previous day through your designated MMA group chat. This keeps communication organized; direct messages are discouraged.
No‑shows will be charged the full class fee.
2. Punctuality
Please arrive on time for your scheduled session.
Class duration will not be extended or adjusted for late arrivals, and will not be prorated.
3. Practice Expectations
Consistent practice is key to musical development for students of all ages.
Learners are encouraged to practice daily and maintain a minimum of three focused practice sessions per week.
4. Tuition & Payments
Class fees are $25 for a 30‑minute session and $50 for a 60‑minute session.
Fees are the same for individual and group classes.
Tuition is billed monthly and must be paid before the 10th of each month via the SettleKing app. Details on the app are at https://www.settleking.com/v3/home.
5. Recordings & Class Materials
Students may record their class sessions for personal review and practice.
All recordings and class materials are for personal use only and should not be shared outside the academy.
6. Classroom Decorum
Students are expected to maintain respectful behavior toward your teacher, fellow learners (a.k.a. guru-bandhus), and the art of music. As my musical journey is shaped by the guidance of my Gurus and their lineage, I ask that all students honor this tradition by greeting the teacher upon arrival and concluding each class with a simple “thank you,” rather than casual farewells such as “bye” or “see you next time.” This small gesture upholds the respect and humility that are integral to our musical practice.
A positive, focused, and courteous learning environment benefits everyone—children and adults alike. So encourage your guru-bandhu next to you by maintaining silence, reducing distractions like unnecessary movements or not paying attention to the music. Absolutely no phone calls or texting during class, no use of smart watches.
Every learner deserves a supportive, non-judgmental space. Students must refrain from mockery or correcting others un-invited.
7. For Parents
Parents are welcome to observe quietly but teaching decisions rest solely with the teacher.
Coaching or correcting children during class is discouraged to maintain flow and confidence.
